A Silver Shekel Tzuri- Seleucid Kingdom, Antiochus VII AR Tetradachm

This is a Shekel Tzuri or a silver tetradrachm issued during the reign of Antiochus VII Euergetes  who ruled the Seleucid Kingdom from 138 to 129 BCE. The coin features exceptional craftsmanship characteristic of Hellenistic numismatics and serves as a testament to the rich history of the Seleucid Empire.

The face of the coin depicts a highly detailed and lifelike bust of King Antiochus VII facing right, wearing a diadem with flowing ties. The portrait emphasizes his regal bearing and Hellenistic features, symbolizing his authority and divine right to rule.

The reverse features the goddess Tyche (representing fortune and prosperity), seated on a throne, holding a scepter in her left hand and a cornucopia in her right, symbolizing abundance. The Greek inscription surrounding the image identifies the coin's origin and ruler. Beneath the throne, symbols or control marks denote the minting authority, in Tyre (Tzuri).

Comes in a an elegant cherry oak case and padded velvet insert.

Good Condition, small chip at reverse.
