Bass & Co Pale Ale Advertising Ceramic Stand - A circular ceramic advertising stand or plaque featuring a transfer-printed design in black on a white ground. The central oval motif displays the wording BASS & CO'S PALE ALE surrounding the Bass & Co script signature and TRADE MARK text. The border of the oval reads THIS LABEL IS ISSUED ONLY BY BASS, RATCLIFF & GRETTON LIMITED - BREWERS, BURTON-ON-TRENT -. The outer circular border features the text FIRST CLASS LONDON 1862 and GOLD MEDAL PARIS 1867. The design is flanked by two circular medallions: the left depicting an exhibition scene and the right showing a profile portrait of Napoleon III with the text NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR. The reverse features a black printed maker's mark reading W. T. COPELAND & SONS STOKE ON TRENT. There is also an impressed mark below which is partially legible, showing COPELAND in an arc. 6 inches in diameter.
