VERY EARLY 1920'S DESIGN CAKE STAND FROM THE UNION CASTLE LINE
As used on board ship cake stand from the Union Castle Line. Dating from the 1920's the item shows a decorative patterned edge which was one of the early designs and is bottom marked with company and makers mark. A great find and in a great condition with the size being 8¾"(22cm) wide
[The Union Line was founded in 1853 as the Southampton Steam Shipping Company to transport coal from South Wales to Southampton. It was renamed the Union Steam Collier Company and then the Union Steamship Company. In 1857, renamed the Union Line, it won a contract to carry mail to South Africa, mainly the Cape Colony. It later became the Union Castle Line.]
