A British Pattern 1856/58 Enfield sword bayonet with steel scabbard - A 19th-century British Pattern 1856/58 Enfield sword bayonet featuring a recurved fullered steel blade. The hilt is constructed with a steel crossguard incorporating a muzzle ring and a downward-curving quillon with a ball finial. The grip consists of two chequered pressed leather scales secured to the tang by five steel pins. The steel pommel includes a mortise slot and a side-mounted leaf spring. The blade ricasso is stamped with the three rings trademark for Kirschbaum of Solingen, Germany, produced under contract for the British military. The reverse ricasso shows an upward-pointing broad arrow, WD property mark, and a crown over 1S over 12 inspection stamp. The bayonet is accompanied by its black-finished steel scabbard with a ball finial.
