Thomas Miles Richardson, View of the Port and Town of Newcastle upon Tyne from the Rope Walk, Gateshead, Hand-Coloured Aquatint - Thomas Miles Richardson (1784-1848). A large-scale topographical print titled View of the Port and Town of Newcastle upon Tyne from the Rope Walk, Gateshead. The work depicts a busy maritime scene on the River Tyne with numerous sailing vessels, keels, and rowing boats. The background features the Newcastle skyline with All Saints Church and the medieval castle. Figures on the Gateshead shore are shown engaged in daily activities including loading barrels and hauling hay. The medium is a hand-coloured engraving with aquatint on paper. Inscriptions below the image include T.M. Richardson pinxt to the bottom left and Engraved by Robt Havell & Son, 3 Chapel Strt Tottenham Court Road to the bottom right.
