A Collection of Victorian Clear Glass Apothecary Jars 20cm - A matching collection of Victorian clear glass pharmacy or apothecary jars. Each jar is of uniform cylindrical form with a ground neck and matching ground glass stopper featuring a rectangular lug handle. The jars are fitted with reverse-painted under-glass labels, rectangular in shape with clipped corners, featuring black serif lettering on a silvered ground within gilt borders. The labels use abbreviated Latin and archaic pharmaceutical terminology including the use of ligatures. The labels are inscribed as follows: TROCH: AC: TANNIC:, PULV: BORACIS, PULV: ACID: BORIC, HYD: BISULPHURET:, MAGN: CARB: POND:, TROCH: SULPHUR:, and SULPH: PRÆCIP:. The MAGN: CARB: POND: jar retains a small quantity of residual white powder content.
