A Sterling Silver Filigree Trinket Box circa 12g - A rectangular lidded trinket box constructed from fine silver filigree wirework. The domed hinged lid features a central four-lobed foliate or butterfly motif with coiled cannetille wire detailing and a polished diamond-shaped central plaque. The edges of the lid are finished with a twisted rope-work border and a spherical thumbpiece. The rounded body of the box is formed of vertical structural wires enclosing scrolling and circular filigree patterns. The base contains an oval openwork panel within a rectangular wire frame. A small rectangular metal plaque is applied to the centre of the base. The plaque is impressed with an oval mark containing 925 above a rectangular section containing 38 925 and a small five-pointed star symbol.
