Floral Antique Hewing Axes
Floral Antique Goosewing hewing axes. First is a large, single bevel goose wing right hand side hewing ax. Has a unique upsweft haft rather than an offset haft. Has a blacksmith's touch mark of the letter "S" surrounded in a box and surrounded by four snowflakes. Original handle extremely worm eaten has broken off, but is included for repair/restoration. With handle axe measures approx. 39" long, axe head is 8" L with a 12" blade. Second is a broad hewing side axe, called a goosewing bearded axe. It has a European style, likely from Austria and made of fine steel. Blade is stamped "350" which is blade length in millimeters. Overall axe length with handle is 24", cutting width is approx 13.25". (Size and weight should be taken into account for shipping)
