AN ISLAMIC WHITE METAL AND ENGRAVED CARNELIAN AGATE TALISMANIC SIGNET RING. - An Islamic talismanic signet ring featuring a large carved gemstone in a decorative metal mount. The mount is constructed from a white metal featuring a scalloped pie-crust collet setting and an openwork gallery. The shank is split at the shoulders, flaring into stylised, wing-like foliate decorative elements where it meets the head of the ring. The centre stone is a large, oval, domed cabochon carnelian agate of a deep reddish-orange hue. The agate is intaglio-carved with a stylised Arabic calligraphic inscription reading Ya Allah Ya Hannan Ya Mannan (O Allah, O Compassionate, O Benefactor), part of the Asma-ul-Husna or Names of God. The carving is accented with a black pigment inlay to enhance the contrast and legibility of the script.
