AN ISLAMIC SILVER AND CARNELIAN SEAL RING. - An Islamic signet or seal ring, likely of Ottoman or Middle Eastern origin. The mount is constructed from silver. The centrepiece is a large, circular, flat-topped carnelian stone of a reddish-orange hue. This stone features a deeply engraved intaglio Arabic inscription in an elegant Naskh or Thuluth script. The inscription reads Al-Khallaq Huwa Al-Baqi, which translates to The Creator, He is the Everlasting. The stone is held within a heavy bezel setting. The shoulders and the shank of the ring are extensively decorated with chased and cast foliate motifs and scrolling patterns, characteristic of traditional regional craftsmanship.
