AN ISLAMIC YEMENI AQEEQ ENGRAVED CARNELIAN AND SILVER SIGNET RING. - A substantial signet-style ring, characteristic of Middle Eastern or Islamic jewellery design. The piece features a silver-toned metal band and setting housing a large, oval cabochon-cut carnelian stone. The carnelian displays a translucent reddish-orange colour and is intaglio-engraved with Arabic calligraphy. The primary script reads Allah, accompanied by an eight-pointed star symbol to the upper left and further decorative calligraphic elements below. The stone is secured in a bezel setting embellished with a decorative beaded or granulated border. The shoulders and shank of the ring feature intricate pierced openwork with scrolling foliate motifs.
