AN ISLAMIC SILVER SIGNET RING WITH AN ENGRAVED CARNELIAN AGATE CABOCHON. - An ornate silver signet-style ring featuring a central oval cabochon of translucent orange-red carnelian, frequently referred to as aqeeq in Islamic tradition. The stone is secured in a thick octagonal bezel setting and features a hand-incised intaglio Arabic calligraphic inscription, which reads Ma Shaa Allah, translating to God has willed it. The wide shoulders and shank of the ring are elaborately decorated with cast and pierced openwork showcasing foliate and scroll motifs. There is a small, illegible rectangular punch mark on the inner band.
