AN ISLAMIC CARVED HEMITITE CALLIGRAPHIC ROUNDEL WITH QURANIC INSCRIPTIONS. - A calligraphic roundel carved from a light celadon-grey hemitite, exhibiting slight translucency and natural veining. The plaque features a central lobed foliate cartouche containing four lines of Arabic calligraphy in the Nasta'liq script, executed in high relief. The raised text is polished and set against a recessed, matte, stippled background. The inscription is the Nadi Ali prayer, a popular Shia invocation: Nadi Aliyyan Mazhar al-Ajaib (Call upon Ali, the manifester of wonders), Tajidhu awnan laka fil-Nawaib (You will find him a helper for you in calamities), Kullu hammin wa ghammin sayanjali (Every care and grief will dissipate), Bi-wilayatik ya Ali ya Ali ya Ali (Through your guardianship, O Ali, O Ali, O Ali).  Approximately 5.7 x 5.2cm
