AN ISLAMIC WHITE METAL AND AGATE SIGNET RING. - An Islamic signet ring featuring a large, oval, semi-translucent white agate stone. The gemstone is intaglio-engraved with Arabic calligraphy in two distinct sections. The central oval panel contains the inscription 'Inna Allaha 'ala kulli shay'in qadir', which translates to 'Indeed, Allah is powerful over all things'. The wide surrounding border contains further Quranic script, commencing with the Basmala: 'Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim' (In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful). The gemstone is set within a silver mount featuring a gadrooned bezel. The wide silver shank is decorated with parallel incised lines on the shoulders. The engraving and material, often associated with 'Dur al-Najaf', are characteristic of Middle Eastern or Persian jewellery traditions.
