AN INDIAN SILVER AND ENAMEL ARCHER'S RING, 19TH CENTURY. - An archer's ring, also known as a thumb ring or zihgir, crafted from silver with champlevé enamel decoration. The ring features a characteristic asymmetrical teardrop shape with a protruding tongue designed to protect the thumb from a bowstring. The exterior surface is decorated with vibrant cobalt blue and emerald green enamel, depicting stylised floral blossoms and scrolling foliate patterns against the silver ground. The interior of the ring is finished with green enamel over an incised design featuring floral sprigs and a linear ground.
