A GILDED CELADON NEPHRITE JADE TALISMANIC PENDANT WITH ARABIC CALLIGRAPHY. - A rectangular nephrite jade pendant of a pale celadon green tone with minor natural cloudy inclusions. The pendant is designed with chamfered lower corners and features two integral pierced suspension loops at the top edge. The front face is decorated with a large circular medallion containing incised and gilded Arabic calligraphy. The central roundel features stylized script including the word Allah, surrounded by two concentric registers of further Arabic inscriptions. The outermost band consists of script arranged radially, a layout characteristic of Islamic talismanic or devotional objects. The calligraphy is deeply incised into the stone surface and filled with gold pigment. Approximately 5.2 x 4.6cm
