AN ANCIENT ALABASTER ANTHROPOMORPHIC IDOL, EARLY BRONZE AGE, CIRCA 3000–2000 BC. - A carved alabaster idol of abstract anthropomorphic form, the elongated body surmounted by a stylised head with pronounced brow ridge and deeply recessed eyes. Executed in a minimalist manner, the figure displays softly rounded contours and natural veining throughout the stone, with a smooth polished surface accentuating the material's cream and brown tones. The form closely recalls the schematic idols and anthropomorphic figures produced in the Aegean and Near Eastern worlds during the Early Bronze Age, characterised by their simplified features and highly abstract representation of the human figure.
