AN ILLUMINATED QUR'AN WITH PERSIAN INTERLINEAR TRANSLATION. QAJAR-ERA PERSIA, 19TH CENTURY. MANUSCRIPT ON PAPER. - A FINE ILLUMINATED KASHMIRI QUR’AN WITH PERSIAN INTERLINEAR TRANSLATION, BY SAYYID MIRZA MOHAMMAD, DATED 1209 AH (1794–95 AD) A finely executed manuscript Qur’an on paper, written in elegant black naskh script with Persian interlinear translation throughout. The manuscript opens with richly illuminated double frontispieces displaying intricate floral and geometric decoration in gold, deep blue, and polychrome pigments, enclosing cartouches containing Qur’anic text and chapter headings. The text is arranged within gold-ruled borders, with illuminated verse markers and finely ornamented margins. Bound in a later lacquer-style binding with gilt floral medallions and matching fore-edge flap. The manuscript bears a colophon attributing the work to Sayyid Mirza Mohammad and dated 1209 AH (1794–95 AD). Approximately 22 x 13.5cm Private Collection.
