AN ILLUMINATED QURANIC MANUSCRIPT SPREAD. AYAT AL-KURSI (THE THRONE VERSE). - A framed two-page illuminated manuscript spread containing the Ayat al-Kursi (The Throne Verse, Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255). The Arabic calligraphy is rendered in bold black thuluth or muhaqqaq script on a burnished gold-leaf background. The right-hand leaf commences with the Basmala (In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate) and proceeds with the opening of the verse. The left-hand leaf concludes the verse and ends with the formal closing Sadaqa Allahu al-Azim (God Almighty has spoken the truth). Both pages are extensively decorated with unwan-style illumination featuring lobed medallions and wide borders filled with floral and foliate motifs in gold and lapis blue pigments, accented with fine black and red outlines. The work is executed on cream-toned paper and displays a style consistent with Ottoman or Persianate manuscript traditions. Approximately 54.5 x 44.5cm
