AN INDIAN JANAM KUNDLI ASTROLOGICAL MANUSCRIPT SCROLL, 19TH CENTURY. - This lot comprises a traditional Indian astrological manuscript scroll, specifically a Janam Kundli or birth chart. It is rendered on handmade paper using hand-applied black and red inks. The calligraphy is executed in Devanagari script, primarily in Sanskrit. The top of the scroll features the auspicious inscription Shree Hariji Mati and a large hand-drawn swastika symbol. The content is divided into segments with red-underlined headers detailing the astrological results of various planets (Grahas), including the Sun (Ath Surya Phalam), Moon (Ath Chandra Phalam), and Mars (Ath Mangal Phalam). The scroll terminates with the term Shubham, indicating well-being or auspiciousness. The manuscript includes multiple hand-drawn astrological charts: lotus-form circular Yantras with numerical and planetary notation, a central diamond-shaped birth chart characteristic of Northern Indian tradition, and various tabular grids used for calculating planetary periods.
