QAJAR SCHOOL, PORTRAIT OF NASIR AL-DIN SHAH QAJAR, 19TH CENTURY. - This 19th-century oil on canvas portrait depicts Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar (r. 1848-1896), the fourth Shah of the Qajar dynasty. Based on visual characteristics and historical context, the work is attributed to the court painter Kamal-ol-molk (Mohammad Ghaffari). The subject is rendered in a three-quarter profile, wearing a traditional black woollen kula hat adorned with a jewelled aigrette and a prominent white feather plume. His attire consists of a dark robe featuring golden boteh or paisley motifs, paired with a Western-style white shirt collar and a dark necktie, illustrating the synthesis of Persian and European fashions during the late Qajar period. The artist has employed a naturalistic style with careful modelling of facial features and a focus on the intricate textures of the jewellery and textiles. Approximately 90 x 60cm
