MEHMED AZIZ EFENDI (ACTIVE EARLY 20TH CENTURY), AN OTTOMAN CALLIGRAPHIC “YA ALI” PANEL, DATED 1338 AH. - An Ottoman calligraphic panel on paper featuring the invocation “Ya Ali” (O Ali) rendered in monumental black script dominating the central field. The composition is surrounded by cartouches and roundels containing Arabic inscriptions, including the names of revered Islamic figures and devotional phrases. At the centre appears a symbolic Dhu al-Fiqar motif, associated with Imam Ali, accompanied by further calligraphic ornament. The lower section bears the date 1338 AH (c. 1919–1920 AD), while the calligrapher's signature Mehmed Aziz Efendi appears within the composition. Approximately 38 x 33cm
