A PERSIAN FIGURAL CERAMIC BOWL IN THE NISHAPUR STYLE. - A footed earthenware bowl of shallow form, decorated with underglaze polychrome pigments in the style of medieval Persian pottery from Nishapur. The interior well features a central seated figure with a rounded face, joined eyebrows, and almond-shaped eyes, clad in a garment with a dot or pearl pattern. This figure is surrounded by a grid of decorative panels containing stylised pomegranates, foliate scrolls, and elements of pseudo-Kufic script. The exterior body is decorated with a wide frieze of repeating interlaced scrolls and heart-like motifs between solid bands. The decoration is rendered in dark brown, black, and blue tones over a pale yellow slip under a clear glaze.  H: Approximately 8.5cm D: Approximately 19cm
