A PERSIAN QAJAR STYLE ENGRAVED BRASS BOWL (TAS). - This object is a large hand-engraved brass bowl, traditionally referred to as a tas, decorated in the Persian Qajar style. The interior features a central scalloped medallion containing complex interlocking arabesque and geometric floral patterns. The interior walls are decorated with a series of lobed cartouches which alternately depict crested birds among foliage and dense floral compositions. A continuous geometric lattice border runs along the interior rim. The exterior base contains a circular narrative panel depicting a mounted noble or huntsman wearing a distinctive plumed cap, or kula-e khud. The figure is shown on a galloping horse within a landscape featuring flowering plants, a hound, and a domed architectural structure in the background. The outer walls continue the decorative scheme with scrolling foliate borders and cartouches containing bird and floral motifs. The decoration is executed through incised linework with blackened detailing to provide contrast. H: Approximately 5.5cm D: Approximately 24cm
