A CHINESE BRONZE ISLAMIC MARKET CENSER AND COVER, XUANDE MARK. - A Chinese cast bronze incense burner of rectangular section, featuring a conforming domed cover. The body is decorated with four lobed panels, each cast with Arabic calligraphy in raised relief set against a recessed, stippled ground. The vessel is flanked by two upright bridge handles and stands on four bulbous ruyi-head feet. The cover is surmounted by a globular bud finial and is pierced with two openwork scrolling cloud panels designed to allow the passage of smoke. The base is cast with a recessed four-character mark within a square, reading Da Ming Xuan De.  H: Approximately 20cm
