A COLLECTION OF AYUBBID PERIOD MOULDED AND GREEN-GLAZED EARTHENWARE FRAGMENTS, 9TH-10TH CENTURY. - A collection of earthenware fragments featuring relief-moulded decoration and a deep green lead glaze. The group includes several pieces displaying motifs such as a leaping animal within scrolling foliage, geometric starbursts, and heraldic-style shields. One shield fragment depicts a double-headed eagle, a motif used in both Seljuk and European traditions. A thick, rectangular fragment features a starburst pattern with circular indentations and vertical piercings, suggesting use in a ventilated architectural structure or ceramic stove. Another piece contains a functional lug or handle element. The translucent lead glaze pools in the recesses of the moulded relief to accentuate the designs. The ceramic body varies in tone from buff to reddish-brown.
