SALIM ABBASI, OTTOMAN, 'QURANIC VERSE FROM SURAH AZ-ZUMAR' (SIGNED). - A calligraphic work on paper depicting a verse from the Quran, Surah Az-Zumar (39:9), which translates as: 'Say, Are those who know equal to those who do not know?'. The central Arabic text is rendered in black ink and entwined with elaborate foliate and floral vine scrollwork. Above the main text, the Basmala is presented in a stylized, knotted script. The composition is enclosed within a double-line rectangular border, featuring geometric knotwork motifs at the upper left and right. An inscription at the lower centre reads 'كتابة سليم عباسي ١٣٦٤', identifying the calligrapher as Salim Abbasi and providing the date of 1364 AH, which corresponds to approximately 1944–1945 CE.
