FRAMED OTTOMAN, 20TH CENTURY, ISLAMIC MÜSENNA CALLIGRAPHY PANEL ON PAPER. - An Islamic calligraphic panel executed in black ink on cream-coloured paper. The artwork features a complex mirrored, or müsenna, calligraphic composition in the centre, surrounded by an arched border of smaller calligraphic text. The central design takes the form of a mihrab or stylized arch. An artist's signature is located at the lower centre, beginning with the characters for Abd. The work is mounted within a black mat and housed in a dark brown wooden frame featuring a gold-toned inner fillet and a metal hanging ring. Approximately 40 x 32.4cm
