A FRAMED PERSIAN ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT PANEL WITH SIMORGHS. - This framed illuminated manuscript panel is a decorative work executed in the Persian Safavid tradition. The central composition features a pair of symmetrical mythical Simorgh birds with elaborate scrolling plumage. They flank a central lobed cartouche containing dense floral patterns in red, blue, and gold. The background is intricately detailed with gold cloud bands and scrolling floral vines known as islimi. The scene is enclosed within a multi-layered border, the primary one featuring a repeating gold scrolling floral pattern against a dark blue ground, followed by a gold-flecked outer margin. The work is produced using gouache and gold leaf on paper. It is mounted with a black mat and housed in a dark wood frame with gilt-effect inner beads. Approximately 34.5 x 29.5cm
