A QAJAR PIERCED AND ENGRAVED BRASS INCENSE BURNER AND COVER. - This is a two-piece brass vessel and matching lid. The vessel features a pyriform body tapering to a circular base, while the stepped conical lid is topped with a tiered, bud-shaped finial. The entire surface is elaborately decorated using a combination of pierced openwork, engraving, and chasing. The decorative program consists of multiple horizontal bands and circular medallions containing dense arabesque patterns, including scrolling foliage and interlaced floral motifs. Calligraphic bands featuring stylized Arabic script are positioned around the upper body and the lid. Small circular medallions on the lower section of the vessel and lid depict stylized avian or figural motifs set against a background of foliage. H: Approximately 24.5cm
