AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN STYLE ALABASTER DUCK WEIGHT. - A zoomorphic carved stone weight or amulet, fashioned from a single piece of semi-translucent, fine-grained alabaster. The piece is rendered in a minimalist, stylised form depicting a duck with its head tucked back towards its body and a pointed tail. A single perforation has been drilled through the neck section, intended for suspension. The surface is smooth with a naturally aged patina. This form is characteristic of ancient Near Eastern duck weights, such as those from Mesopotamian or Sumerian cultures. L: Approximately 4.6cm
