AN OTTOMAN ENGRAVED BRASS DALLAH COFFEE POT, EARLY 17TH CENTURY. - An Ottoman engraved brass dallah, or coffee pot, of elegant pear-shaped form, the deeply lobed body rising from a spreading circular foot to a tall waisted neck. The vessel is fitted with a long curved pouring spout and an elegant scrolling handle, the latter attached beneath the hinged domed cover. The exterior is extensively hand engraved with scrolling foliate and floral ornament, arranged within the individual fluted panels of the body and continuing along the spout, neck and cover. The domed lid is similarly decorated with stylised foliage and surmounted by a bud-shaped finial, with a repeating pointed border around its lower edge. The neck is further enriched with bands of engraved arabesque ornament and rope-twist borders. H: Approximately 27cm
