A SELJUK KHORASAN BRONZE EWER WITH LAMP-FORM SPOUT, 11TH-13TH CENTURY. - A cast bronze or copper alloy footed ewer featuring a distinctive integrated spout designed in the form of an oil lamp. This vessel is characteristic of the metalwork produced in the Greater Khorasan region during the Seljuk period. The neck tapers upwards to a horizontal spout head that incorporates a small hinged circular lid and is decorated with engraved scrolling arabesque patterns. A slender S-curved handle is attached to the rim and the body, featuring a leaf-shaped thumb-piece and terminal. The surface of the ewer is decorated with fine-line engraving, including horizontal bands of stylized Kufic or early Thuluth script around the shoulder and body. The central decorative scheme consists of teardrop-shaped medallions containing stylized floral or calligraphic motifs, interspersed with rectangular cartouches featuring a frieze of running animals, typical of Khorasan zoomorphic iconography. The piece is supported by a flared, trumpet-shaped foot with incised linear motifs. H: Approximately 19.7cm
