A SELJUK INLAID BRONZE ROSEWATER SPRINKLER, 12TH CENTURY. - A Seljuk inlaid bronze rosewater sprinkler, likely originating from Greater Iran or the Jazira region, dating to the 12th or 13th century. The vessel is cast from a copper alloy and features a globular body resting on a flaring conical foot. The exterior is densely decorated with three registers of inlaid medallions. The central register contains circular medallions depicting adorsed bird-like figures with intertwined necks. The upper and lower registers consist of pentagonal medallions containing stylized zoomorphic figures. The shoulder is embellished with a band of foliated scrolling vines and a series of repeating pointed arches. The tapering neck rises to a distinctive raised collar adorned with six pointed bosses. A band of incised calligraphic script, rendered in a stylized hand, circumnavigates the upper collar, typically containing benedictory inscriptions for the owner. The foot is decorated with a series of inlaid lozenge motifs. H: Approximately 13.5cm
