A PERSIAN PANJETAN DEVOTIONAL MINIATURE PAINTING. - A finely painted Persian Qajar style devotional miniature depicting the Panjetan (Ahl al-Kisa / Five Holy Persons), arranged beneath an architectural arch and surrounded by extensive panels of Arabic and Persian calligraphy. The central composition presents a sacred family group, with figures shown in traditional robes and turbans, accompanied by a winged angel above. The identities of the holy figures are treated reverentially, with the principal figure represented with a veiled or stylised face in accordance with devotional convention. The scene is enclosed within richly ornamented borders filled with dense calligraphic inscriptions, with further inscriptions contained within coloured cartouches and bands surrounding the central image. Executed in opaque pigments, ink and gilt tones on paper, displaying the detailed line work and decorative character associated with Qajar-period Persian religious painting.
