A SAFAVID STYLE PALE GREEN NEPHRITE JADE TALISMANIC PENDANT WITH GOLD-INLAID CALLIGRAPHY. - A pale green translucent nephrite jade amulet or pendant of stepped and lobed form. The obverse features a central circular medallion containing densely interlaced Arabic calligraphy in Thuluth script, executed in a gold-inlaid technique where the stone is incised and filled with gold. The script is talismanic or religious in nature, characteristic of Safavid Islamic lapidary arts. The jade is carved with a central suspension loop at the top and scalloped edges. The reverse of the piece is plain and polished. Approximately 7.7 x 6cm
