AN INDO-PERSIAN INSCRIBED PALE GREEN JADE AND COPPER INLAID PLAQUE, 19TH CENTURY OR LATER. - An inscribed decorative plaque carved from semi-translucent pale green nephrite jade featuring a central flush-mounted copper alloy inlay. The jade body is shaped with a lobed foliate outline in the cloud-collar style, incorporating two rectangular tabs at the lateral edges which indicates the piece was likely intended as a mounting for a belt or textile. The central metal plaque is finely engraved with an Arabic inscription in naskh script, interspersed with three eight-petalled floral rosettes. The calligraphy contains a verse from the Quran (3:103): ”And hold fast, all together, by the rope of Allah, and be not divided”.  Approximately 8 x 6.4cm
