AN INDO-PERSIAN ILLUMINATED PERSIAN MANUSCRIPT SCROLL. - The scroll is constructed from multiple joined sheets of burnished paper, bordered by earthy-toned marbled paper (ebru) and extensive gold leaf illumination. The text is executed in a masterly hand using multiple scripts, including a bold Thuluth for major headings and a refined Nasta'liq for the primary text. The content comprises Quranic verses, Shi'a devotional prayers, and Persian poetry. Significant headings include Quranic passages such as And whatever favour you have, it is from Allah (Surah An-Nahl 16:53) and Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth (Surah An-Nur 24:35). The scroll features three high-quality polychrome miniature paintings depicting the primary holy sites of Islam: the Kaaba in Mecca, the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, and a shrine with a golden dome and latticed zarih, likely the shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad. A prominent decorative feature is a large, gilded 'alam' (standard) or tughra-style emblem containing the names of the Twelve Imams, with the name Allah at its centre, surrounded by the Nadi 'Ali prayer.  Approximately 342cm
