A QAJAR ORNATE COPPER TEAPOT WITH DRAGON SPOUT AND CALLIGRAPHIC BANDS, 19TH CENTURY. - An ornate copper teapot of bulbous form, heavily decorated throughout with chased and engraved foliate and floral arabesque patterns. The vessel features a cast spout in the form of a gaping dragon or mythical creature. Two registers of stylised Arabic calligraphy are present, one encircling the shoulder of the body and one around the domed lid. The lid incorporates sections of pierced openwork and is finished with a pointed finial. The curved handle is hinged and decorated with matching scrollwork, terminating in pointed finials at the junctions. The vessel stands on a low, flared base with a continuous foliate border.
