AN ISLAMIC SILVER AND CARNELIAN CALLIGRAPHIC SIGNET RING. - An Islamic signet ring featuring an octagonal carnelian (aqeeq) intaglio set in a white metal mount. The flat carnelian stone is hand-engraved with two registers of Arabic calligraphy in Naskh script, divided by a horizontal line. The top register reads Tawakkuli ala Allah (My trust is in Allah), and the bottom register reads Abduhu Ahmad (His servant Ahmad), surrounded by small decorative floral sprigs. The stone is secured within a high octagonal bezel by a fold-over rim. The shoulders of the mount are decorated with pierced openwork in a stylized foliate motif, tapering to a simple band.
