The stone is intaglio-engraved with the Arabic calligraphic phrase Ma sha Allah, which translates to Whatever God wills, with the recessed areas filled with black pigment to enhance legibility. The metal band is decorated on the shoulders and shank with hand-chased foliate and floral star motifs.
