Bidspirit auction | A QAJAR BLUE AND WHITE

A QAJAR BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN BOTTLE VASE, 19TH CENTURY. - A Qajar underglaze blue and white porcelain bottle vase produced in Persia during the 19th century. The vessel features a bulbous body tapering to a neck with a raised central band and a flared rim. The decoration is executed in cobalt blue with fine manganese black outlines, reflecting the influence of Chinese Ming dynasty porcelain. One side of the body depicts a reclining deer with large ears and its head turned back, situated within a landscape of stylized floral sprays and dotted rockwork. The reverse side displays large multi-petalled floral blooms and elongated serrated foliage. The base of the neck is decorated with a band of vertical blue stripes or gadrooning, followed by a register of floral motifs. The flared rim is finished with diagonal blue and white banding.  H: Approximately 28cm
