CHARLES HOSSEIN ZENDEROUDI (IRANIAN, B. 1937), CALLIGRAPHIC COMPOSITION, 1973. - This calligraphic abstraction is a characteristic work by Hossein Zenderoudi, a central figure of the Saqqa-khaneh movement, executed in acrylic on canvas. The composition is built upon rhythmic, repetitive rows of stylised Persian characters, specifically the letters 'he' (ه), 'jim' (ج), and 'ayn' (ع). These elements are rendered in a vibrant palette of primary blues, reds, and yellows, set against a pale background featuring vertical multi-coloured washes. The brushwork is precise and graphic, creating dense, overlapping patterns that highlight the lyrical and rhythmic quality of the Persian script through varying line weights. The painting is signed in the bottom right corner in Western script 'Zenderoudi 73' alongside Persian characters. The verso of the canvas is inscribed 'HOSSEIN ZENDEROUDI 73' in blue block letters.  Approximately 104 x 68cm
