A Pair of WMF Art Nouveau Silver-Plated Vases - This pair of vases is manufactured by WMF (Wuerttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) of Geislingen, Germany, dating to the early 20th century. The vases feature a tapered cylindrical form with a central relief-molded decorative band. The ornamentation consists of sunflowers and scrolling acanthus foliage in the Art Nouveau or Jugendstil style. The vases are constructed from silver-plated base metal. The base of the vases contains a stamped maker mark consisting of an arched rectangle enclosing a lozenge with an ostrich and the letters W, M, and f. The number 90 is stamped directly below the manufacturer mark, indicating the German standard for silver-plating thickness.
