Victorian Spool Turned Walnut Corner Chair with Floral Needlepoint Seat - This Victorian era corner chair, also known as a roundabout chair, is constructed from dark stained walnut. The frame features extensive spool or bobbin turnings on the legs, H-stretchers, and arm supports. The curved back rail is supported by three turned posts and two decorative pierced splats featuring scrolled and lyre inspired carvings. The square seat is oriented diagonally and upholstered in needlepoint fabric. The needlework displays a central multicolored floral bouquet including roses and pansies on a pale green ground. A coordinating green fabric pad is wrapped around the center of the top rail. The chair rests on four turned legs ending in simple feet. No maker marks are visible on the exterior of the piece.
