Stickley Harvey Ellis Arts and Crafts Inlaid Quartersawn Oak Headboard - A quartersawn oak headboard in the Arts and Crafts style featuring a signature Harvey Ellis design for Stickley. The frame is constructed with an arched top rail featuring three central turned wooden pendants. The layout consists of a solid central panel flanked by five vertical slats on each side. The corner posts terminate in square block finials topped with spherical caps. The central panel displays an elliptical Art Nouveau-style inlay crafted from mixed wood veneers and shell. The inlay motif consists of stylized wings, four heart-shaped shell insets, and four rectangular shell accents set within dark wood squares. Delicate dark wood stringing extends vertically from the central motif and terminates in small circular inlays near the bottom of the panel. The quartersawn oak construction is evidenced by prominent medullary rays throughout the grain. Cast metal hardware for rail attachment is present at the base of the outer posts.
