Bidspirit auction | Two English Decorative Ceramic Items

Two English Decorative Ceramic Items Including Mason's Mandalay Vase and Carlton Ware Hovis Teapot - This lot features two pieces of English decorative ceramics from established potteries. The first item is a Mason's Ironstone vase in the Mandalay pattern. The vase is designed in a baluster form with a flared rim and an octagonal footed base. The ironstone body is decorated with transfer-printed and hand-painted polychrome floral and foliate motifs, characterized by large pink blossoms, yellow flowers, and cobalt blue scrolling foliage with gilded accents. The underside is marked with a brown backstamp featuring a crown and banner, inscribed MASON'S IRONSTONE MADE IN ENGLAND, along with the pattern name Mandalay and the text PRINTED AND HAND PAINTED. The second item is a Carlton Ware novelty teapot modeled in the shape of a traditional loaf of Hovis bread resting on a square board. The earthenware body features embossed lettering reading HOVIS on one side and is finished in two-tone brown and tan glazes to simulate a baked crust. The base displays a blue backstamp reading Carlton Ware MADE IN ENGLAND.
