A Trio of Royal Doulton The Three Musketeers Character Jugs - This set of three Royal Doulton glazed ceramic character jugs depicts the protagonists from Alexandre Dumas's novel, The Three Musketeers. The collection includes the characters Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, all designed by Max Henk. Each jug is decorated with a polychrome glaze and features a unique handle molded in the form of a sword hilt. Athos (model D6439) is depicted with a mustache, wearing a dark green and black tunic and a black hat adorned with a large white plume. Porthos (model D6440) is shown with a jovial expression and a dark mustache and goatee, wearing a dark red tunic and a similar plumed black hat. Aramis (model D6441) is portrayed with a serious expression and a thin mustache, wearing a dark brown and black tunic. The base of each jug features a transfer-printed Royal Doulton backstamp, including the lion and crown logo above a circular mark. The marks include the individual character names, model numbers D6439, D6440, and D6441, and a copyright date of 1955. The Athos and Aramis jugs also include several British registration numbers.
