The piece depicts a groom in rustic attire standing beside a harnessed horse on a molded landscape base. This form is often identified in period catalogs as a pipe stand or tobacco-related accessory, featuring a small molded basket at the groom's feet. The earthenware body is finished in a monochrome cream-colored glaze with hand-applied gold-gilt accents on the horse's body, elements of the groom's clothing, the base rim, and the basket. The underside of the base features embossed marks including the name Eichwald, the shape number 2624, and the letter A. A/F
