"INDIA - DELHI SULTANATE - GHIYATH AL DIN TUGHLUQ - 4 GANI AH723 (1323 AD) - BILLON COIN

D311, Denomination: 4 Gani, Date: AH723 (1323 AD), Composition: Billon, Size: 15.20 mm, Weight: 3.00 Gram

Ruler: Ghiyath al-din Tughluq : AH 720-725 / 1320-1325 AD

Ghiyath al-Din Tughluq, Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq or Ghazi Malik (Ghazi means 'fighter for Islam'), (died c.1325) was the founder of the Tughluq dynasty in India, who reigned over the Sultanate of Delhi from 1320 to 1325. He founded the city of Tughluqabad. His reign was cut short after five years when he died during the collapse of a pavilion built in his honour in 1325. However his death was claimed to be a conspiracy by the 14th century historian Ibn Batuta."
